National Pit Bull Awareness Day is October 28

Created in 2007, National Pit Bull Awareness Day gives this breed a chance for people to see them as the sweet dogs they truly are.

For almost 100 years, the pit bull has been known as a “nanny dog.” Back in the day, parents felt comfortable and safe with their babies or toddlers in the care of their pit bulls while they went to go run errands. Over the decades, pit bulls have unfortunately been the subject of “breedism,” having garnered a bad reputation of being malicious and dangerous. With National Pit Bull Awareness Day, created in 2007, these animals have a chance to be known as the sweet and loving dogs that they truly are.
