Dogs that are currently available for adoption come from the Inyo County Animal Shelter, located at 1001 County Road in Big Pine, CA. To inquire about a dog, please contact the shelter directly at (760) 938-2715.

2026 JUNE REPORT
In 2026, your donations to Eastern Sierra Dog Rescue have been used to help local families and their dogs. To help keep dogs in their homes, ESDR has:
Purchased almost $5,000 worth of dog food for IMACA and individuals facing hardship.
Spent over $40,000 at local veterinary hospitals for spay/neuter costs to decrease the number of dogs that end up in shelters. We continue to fundraise in order to reach our 100 dogs goal.
Helped local families with emergency veterinary cost of almost $2,000 for sick or injured animals.
Continue to arrange adoption events with Mono County Shelters.
We are working to organize a low cost spay/neuter clinic in the fall to meet the needs of our communities.
So thank you for your generous donations. Eastern Sierra Dog Rescue is an all volunteer organization, and all money donated goes to help local families and their dogs.
2025 YEAR END REPORT
2025 has been a busy year for Eastern Sierra Dog Rescue (ESDR), following our mission of helping dogs in our communities. Our goals are to help keep dogs in their homes, and to reduce the population of unwanted dogs that end up in the shelter.
ESDR sponsored free or reduced dog adoption promotions at the Inyo County Animal Shelter and helped 67 dogs find their forever homes. Other donations to the shelter include enrichment items, dog beds, and paying to spay/neuter dogs going into foster care.
ESDR held 14 adoption events in Bishop, Mammoth, and Crowley Lake. Generous businesses let us bring over 85 dogs out of the shelter to spend a few hours showing their true personalities to the public. A huge thank you to Tailwaggers, Black Sheep, and the Crowley Lake Marina.
Since January, 2025, ESDR held several spay/neuter promotions, scheduling and paying for over 30 surgeries. ESDR also started a food donation program, helping seniors and others in need keep dogs in their homes. ESDR spent over $31,000 in 2025 to help pets in our communities. Our work in 2025 was recognized by Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, and Eastern Sierra Dog Rescue was named the 2025 Non-Profit of the Year for Inyo County.
