Coffee with a Shelter Dog

Shelter dogs share a cup of joe with patrons at Black Sheep Coffee Roasters.

Two of the shelter pups from Inyo County Animal Shelter shared a cup of joe with coffee enthusiasts at the Black Sheep Coffee Roasters in Bishop, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022. Every now and again, volunteers can be seen on the back patio of the Black Sheep having coffee with a shelter dog. Not only do these dogs get an opportunity to get out and explore life outside of the shelter, the public gets a chance to meet these sweet animals.

Jake, an 11-month-old boy, arrived at the coffee bar with Dan and Lindsay, a couple from Yosemite who have become recurring foster parents to many dogs from the shelter. Jake is friendly and affectionate. He displays an intelligent and calm demeanor.

Hope is a two-year-old girl who is sweet with everyone, though it may take some time for her to open up. She has the makings to become a model pup.

There are many shelter dogs who are available for adoption and fostering. If you’re interested in becoming a foster parent, please do not hesitate to reach out. To see which dogs are available, check out our home page. And hope to see you out having coffee with a shelter dog.
